Privacy and cookies

In short

Atom asks for no account and no name. It stores only your preferences and badges in your browser; statistics run only if you allow them.

In short (for kids too)

  • Atom never asks your name, age or email.
  • Your theme, language and badges stay only in your browser. We can't see them.
  • If you say yes, we count which pages are read, without knowing your name or email. If you say no, we don't count.
  • You can change your mind any time with “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of the page.

What is stored in your browser (necessary)

Atom does not use cookies. It keeps the following only in your browser's localStorage. They are first-party, never sent to a server and kept until you delete them. Because the site needs them to work and they never leave your device, the legal basis is KVKK Art. 5/2-f.

  • bumba-cerez: your cookie choice (policy version and whether you allowed statistics).
  • atom-tema: your light or dark theme choice (only if you press the theme button).
  • atom-dil: your language choice (only if you use the language switcher).
  • atom-rozetler: your badges and progress (see below).

Badges

What is kept: the IDs of the badges you earned and the day you earned them (no time); counters needed to check badge conditions: materials whose story you read, questions you opened, main sections you visited, the day of your last visit and how many different days you came. No activity log, times, page history, name or email are kept.

Where and how long: in your browser, in the atom-rozetler localStorage key; first-party; never sent to a server; kept until you delete it. To delete, use the “Delete badges” button on the Badges page or clear your browser data. Legal basis: KVKK Art. 5/2-f (the data never leaves your device and you can see and delete it); no consent is requested.

Umami (only if you allowed statistics): when a badge is first earned, which badge it was is counted. This is recorded, like page visits, with browser, device, country and city; no name, email or progress is sent.

Statistics (Umami)

It runs only if you press “Accept” on the cookie banner or turn statistics on in your preferences; otherwise the counter is never loaded. The counter is Umami, running on Bumba Group's own server in Istanbul (istatistik.bumba.tr). Umami uses no cookies, but visits are linked to a pseudonymous session, so we do not call it “anonymous”.

Data processed: the page address, the site you came from, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and the country and city derived from your IP address (the IP address is not stored). Events counted: a search being made (the search words are not sent), language change, theme change, joining the mailing list and earning a badge. Legal basis: explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5/1). You can withdraw consent at any time under “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of the page.

Mailing list

The form in the footer is for joining Bumba Group's shared mailing list. It is sent only if you approve the privacy notice in the pop-up with “I accept”, and confirmed by email (double opt-in). What stays in your browser

Site search runs entirely in your browser; your search words are never sent to a server. The weight you enter in the atom calculator is also calculated only in your browser and is neither stored nor sent.

External resources and server

The Bumba Life badge image in the footer is loaded from bumbagroup.com, and the privacy notice in the mailing-list pop-up comes from there too. Like any web request, these send your IP address to that server; bumbagroup.com belongs to the same data controller. The font is served with the site; no external font server is used. The site is hosted on our server in Istanbul, which may keep standard access logs (IP address, date, requested address, browser information) for security and operation.

Your rights

Under KVKK Art. 11 you have the right to learn whether your data is processed, request information about it, learn its purpose and who it is shared with, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to an adverse outcome from automated analysis and claim compensation for damages.
